A US woman has won $14.5 million from a lottery scratch card — her fourth win in 17 years.

Joan Ginther, 63, has been dubbed the world's luckiest lotto player after winning the top prize in the $50 "Texas Lottery Extreme Scratchie", AOL News reports.

Ginther won $8 million in a lottery in 1993, and collected $2.9 million from a scratchie ticket in 2006.

She won $4.3 million from another scratchie in 2008.

World Lottery News congratulated Mrs Ginther and said it would be interested "to see just how much she spends on lottery tickets and scratch-offs".

Ginther has requested minimal publicity.
